OK now I'm just pissed... they JUST HAD TO GO AND DO THAT. yeah.... we were playing baseballl.... Derek was 14 and kyle was what.... 8? im now both demoralized and pissed. took them long enough to put a genuine silver bullet into my writing.

Calm down! Fan Fiction is your interpretation of the story not the actual telling. You can do whatever the hell you want! Keep going, maybe yours is an alternate time line!

its not the fact that they did it that has set me off.... i was expecting them to eventually define Derek's history.

the killer fact is this is what happens whenever i write. I make something, i make something good that other people enjoy. i get really into it. I start really committing to writing it... and SLAM something comes along that is a polar contradiction. My stuff is immediately regarded is "fan stuffs", put on the wayside, those that liked it before start to meander off to other things... and i'm left holding a dead piece of already broken writing, and no will to continue.

this is the fifth time this has happened...
and its getting harder and harder to continue

Well I have many original ideas that I've never gotten around to writing. The fan fic I've done has helped me understand my style of writing and hopefully will lead to the writing of these other stories. Maybe I should use you guys to get me started on these other things. What I'm saying is, keep searching for that story you're supposed to tell, but in the mean time write the fan fiction for other fans. As long as someone enjoys it, it really doesn't matter if it fits with everything else! Don't let this kill your dreams or you'll never forgive yourself!
