I think she did because we didn't learn much about her and she is an interesting character. Also she needs to go the prom! T-X survived the petrol tank in T3, why not Cameron...

That's cameron. The question is what model is she? she came from 2028 and so they were not so much advanced as a T-1000 and T-X (2029).
Maybe she's just a T-900 infiltrator unit what would explain why Cromartie doesn't recognice the model. (T-888)
Either way the skin model 101 has been damaged or totally destroyed by the car bomb.

Sarkissian is the one walking from the jeep. It could be a corny season opener when Cameron jumps from the jeep before the bomb goes off even though you cant tell from slow mo, or, we can expect a new hair due.
I personally think she doesn't die but could be damaged, giving John experience at fixing a terminator?

Anyone afraid that Cameron's chip is destroyed or damaged? This might erase all her memory. :( Also John didn't patch up her head properly. The chip might come off.

no way. I have a feeling the explosion will leave her with minimal damage, maybe some burns and exposed parts in the face, etc. but nothing that can't be patched up or fixed. nothing as extensive as Cromartie's reconstructive surgery. Besides, in an interview Summer was happy about where they managed to finish before the strike and that she hopes there's a second season so she can continue working with the awesome cast, so I think that pretty much seals the deal on Summer staying.
